Birgit Freybe Bateman

A photographer since I was 16 years old using my father’s German camera, I am excited by the infinite variety of shape, form, line, texture and pattern of both the man-made and natural worlds. My quest is to record the extraordinary in the ordinary. Since my first trip to Africa in 1974, I have travelled to more than 50 countries throughout the world searching for images that strike me as being unique. Published in Conde Nast Traveler, Outside Magazine, Northwest Travel, Geo Airone [Italy], National Geographic Adventure and Shambala Sun magazines, as well as in the books, End of the Earth: Voyages to Antarctica (National Geographic Society 2003) by Peter Matthiessen, Dangerous Beauty (Miramax) by Mark C. Ross, 2001, and Artists for Nature in Extremadura (Wildlife Art Gallery, Eng.) edited by Nicholas Hammond, l995, my work has been exhibited in numerous public and private galleries.
